A security door is not a slab of steel. It is a system: leaf, frame, locks and fitting, and it is only as strong as the weakest of the four. Here is what we look at when we quote a Maltese apartment or villa entrance.
Multi-point locking. A single latch holds a door at one point; a multi-point mechanism throws bolts along the full strike edge, top and bottom included. This is the difference between a door that resists a shoulder and one that resists a crowbar.
The frame does half the work. A reinforced steel frame, correctly anchored into the reveal, is why professional doors are made to measure. A perfect leaf in a loose frame is theatre.
Cylinders worth attacking are worth protecting. High-security cylinders with anti-snap, anti-drill protection — from names like Kale and eLock — cost little compared to the door and decide how the door fails, or does not.
Security does not have to look like it. Walnut inlays, classic panels or clean anthracite — the steel is under the finish. Nobody has to know your front door weighs eighty kilograms.
